HANDS-ON INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING VOCAPRENEURSHIP SKILLS AMONGST TVET EDUCATION STUDENTS FOR ECONOMIC SELF-SUSTENANCE IN SOME SELECTED UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA

This study ascertained hands-on instructional strategies for developing vocapreneurship skills amongst TVET education students for economic self-sustenance in University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and University of Calabar, (UNICAL) Calabar – Nigeria. Three research questions were stated and three null hypotheses postulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Related literatures were reviewed. Descriptive survey design was adopted. The population of the study consisted of 199 TVET educators. It was a census study. 15-item structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The instrument’s reliability coefficient was 0.82. Z-test was used to test hypotheses. Findings showed significant difference in mean responses of TVET Educators on hands-on experiential learning; mentorship and networking; and reflective practice and continuous learning instructional strategies for developing vocapreneurship skills amongst TVET education students for economic self-sustenance. It was recommended that experiential learning; mentorship and networking; and reflective practice and continuous learning should be adopted as hands-on instructional strategies.
